Maruti Suzuki, the country’s top passenger vehicle manufacturer, has achieved a remarkable milestone of 3 million vehicles exported.
The 3 millionth car was part of a shipment of 1,053 units that left Gujarat’s Pipavav port, including popular models like the Celerio, Fronx, Jimny, Baleno, Ciaz, Dzire, and S-Presso.
The company began its export journey in 1986, with its first large shipment of 500 cars sent to Hungary in 1987. Maruti Suzuki reached the 1 million mark in exports by 2012-13 and hit 2 million in 2020-21. The leap from 2 million to 3 million was made in just 3 years and 9 months, marking the fastest growth in the company’s export history.
Speaking on this achievement, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, said, “Today, 40% of passenger vehicles exported from India are from Maruti Suzuki making us the number 1 vehicle exporter in the country. Exports Performance for FY 2024-25
Between April and October 2024, Maruti Suzuki exported 181,444 vehicles, reflecting a 17.4 percent growth compared to the same period last year. The company now exports 17 models to nearly 100 countries, with Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East being key markets. Among the top export models are the Fronx, Jimny, Baleno, Dzire, and S-Presso.
