The civil aviation ministry blamed the heavy rain, which caused the damage, leaving 1 dead and others injured.
As the Delhi airport witnessed a massive collapse of the roof at Terminal 1 due to rain, which left one dead and six others injured, the budget carrier IndiGo has released an advisory. The airline has announced that all its operations will take place from Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. This will remain the same until further notice.
While updating about the news on X, formerly known as Twitter, IndiGo says “Delhi Airport Terminal 1 update- Due to structural damage caused to T1 yesterday, IndiGo will be operating all flights from T2 & T3 until further notice. We are committed to ensuring a smooth travel experience and minimizing disruptions.”

The concerned ministry has already initiated an investigation regarding the deadly incident. As per the details shared by PTI, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said an inspection of the structure at the airport will be carried out.
Naidu even informed that Rs 20 lakh would be given to the deceased’s family as compensation. All those 5 people who sustained serious injuries will be given Rs 3 lakh.

All Operations are Stopped at T1
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the situation at Terminal 1 is under control. However, the operations at T1 are temporarily closed. Efforts are being made to shift all the flight operations from T1 to T2 and T3.
